[VIDEO] 'Our healthcare system is violence' & we don't need to be polite about it

I had an opportunity to discuss some important issues regarding abuse of migrants, and direct action’s crucial role in democracy on The Unruly Hour with Savage Joy Tuesday evening. Joy isn’t just a great pundit but also an experienced activist who has helped organize nation-wide campaigns around issues like healthcare rights.

She, like me, is tired of people with no skin in the game talking down to marginalized people and activists about what tactics are and are not seemly, appropriate, or effective. “As an activist who is in the street all the time I’m so over people saying ‘don’t be mean.’ Don’t be mean? We are experiencing people going through violence,” Joy reasons.

“Our healthcare system is violence. We’re unhousing people, it’s violence. I’m not going to be polite about this shit. Fuck that. That is pure privilege.”
