[Video] Democrats Continue Trump's China Fearmongering...
...and seek to broaden an immoral, unwinnable war
I recently had the privilege of being a guest on The Fred Hampton Leftist Network’s “Revolutionary Jargon” show. On it, we discussed recent efforts of the U.S. government and tech corporations to vilify the Chinese government and why we should fear those claims.
Not only are we given very little in the way of actual evidence to back up the U.S. government’s newest claims of China supposedly “attacking” us in what we’re led to believe is a novel way particular to them, but it is important to realize that these types of “official line” reports from media outlets that do little other than present government claims without outside interrogation have always served as the propaganda necessary to manufacture consent among the populace to go to war.
Our current President is continuing the economic warfare campaign waged by his predecessor against China, as well as the dangerous war rhetoric to go with it. “[Donald Trump] really campaigned on…economic nationalism and bigotry and Joe Biden largely did the same, on the strength of Democrats criticizing Donald Trump during his presidency as not being hard enough on China - the way he thought he wasn’t hard enough on Syria, occupying much of their land and bombing them and other things weren’t enough, Democrats wanted to see him go harder,” I say in the above video segment.
“Joe Biden ran this last time to the right of Donald Trump on China, promising to go harder. Same on Russia…I was scared of Joe Biden and what he’d do with China from the get-go, and now they’re basically continuing Donald Trump’s trade war against China.”
At present, experts on the region tell us plainly that we are in a cold war with the ascending global power, China. The current anti-China propaganda campaigns led by our government and pliant corporate media is, of course, only in addition to longstanding Sinophobia and orientalism, more broadly, and it is meant to condition Americans/Westerners to view those from the East as less than human, sinister, and existential threats.
“We are in a cold war with China…Information warfare, ie. propaganda is conditioning us even more so than we already are after hundreds of years of toxic orientalism - which we wield at any number of places; China, Muslims everywhere, they want to strengthen that fear of China to condition us to ramp up war more and more. My fear, broadly speaking, is that if you look at history, these cold wars have a way of flaming up into real kinetic wars, and economic wars, trade wars, have a real [tendency] to turn into hot, military wars. That’s usually what we end up fighting over,” I continued.
Even if we accept the racist, imperial framing that China is bad, and that America is uniquely good, the war with China that the neoliberal establishment is currently waging and evidently seeking to expand is a foolhardy one, at best. “So, it’s very alarming. Even within the context of American chauvinism, even if I said, ‘I want America to beat China because I think there’s biological and moral differences [between our countries] that I thought existed]',’ and I thought our government was better than their government…without evidence, it’s [still] alarming because we’re not winning a war with China.”
“We’re not going to win an economic one, we’re not going to win a land one, we’re not going to win any type of war [with China], especially with Democrats wanting us to fight Russia at the same time.”
