Trump Trial Shows How Elites are Above the Law

Liberals like Biden are quick to use Trump's convictions to hide systemic injustice

After his White House predecessor and 2024 election rival Donald Trump was convicted of state felony charges last week in New York a message reading “No one is above the law” appeared on current President Joe Biden’s twitter account. In fact, this Trump trial and verdict, as well as most of his many ongoing legal cases demonstrate that so-called “elites” like him and Biden are always above the law in this lawless society of ours.

Trump won’t be put in prison for these convictions. This trial is simply virtue-signaling catharsis for liberals much in the same way that Bill Clinton’s impeachment trial for lying about his affair with Monica Lewinsky was for Republicans.

It’s also fodder and motivation for MAGA acolytes. That Clinton was in trouble for lying instead of for an improper workplace relationship where he wielded a gigantic power disparity over a subordinate was telling.

That Trump was convicted for doing paperwork poorly while paying out hush money to a sex worker is also telling. Trump has admitted to sexual assault and never been brought up on charges for that.

He’s never spent time in jail for his many unpaid contracts. He’s never seen the inside of a cell for the slumlord work he and his father did even though they were cited by the federal government for racial discrimination.

Let’s now turn to just a few of his crimes as President that neither Democrats nor our criminal justice system ever seized upon. President Trump is guilty of illegal assassinations, domestic and foreign spying, illegal wars that killed thousands of innocent people, he’s guilty of the international crime of threatening entire nations with nuclear annihilation, of attempting coups in other countries, and of running concentration camps.

Congressional Democrats impeached President Trump twice, but not for any of these things. Perhaps that’s because they worked with him on all of them and because their own man in the Oval Office is now doing the same and worse.

In a just world and in a democratic nation such crimes committed by a sitting President would be disqualifying and criminal. Instead, they are required of all our heads of state.

President Biden too is guilty of the crimes of illegal spying, assassinations, wars, of holding people without respecting the constitutional need for habeas corpus and now of waging a holocaust against the Palestinian people. All of that is of course in addition to his predatory behavior for decades that includes multiple credible allegations of rape by different women, as well as publicly molesting and making visibly uncomfortable girls and his own daughter saying that he sexually abused her.

That Trump and Biden’s real crimes, on-scale, have and will go unpunished and largely unremarked upon, yet things like paying hush money for sexual affairs get convictions shows what a morally bankrupt and lawless nation we have. These show trials hide the real crimes of empire and those in charge of managing it.
