Breakthrough News labor reporter Monica Cruz works to bring to light stories of worker activism and organizing that corporate media coverage largely ignores. Cruz is our guest on the latest episode of the Deconstructing Consent Podcast (above) and from what she sees on the front lines “it’s just very clear that workers have had enough.”
Cruz discusses with us her own background in organizing and her journalistic philosophy. She also talks about why it is that corporate media doesn’t usually cover the remarkable level of worker organizing happening right now across the globe, and how workers are nonetheless winning.
(Indian workers like those demonstrating above are among those leading the current wave of labor organizing happening worldwide)
“We’re getting to a point where this system has dug itself a grave so deep where it’s like you can’t put a cap on this war. People are very interested in what workers are doing in terms of organizing in their workplaces,” she says.
“The fall of this system is inevitable. This system digs its own grave. It creates its own contradictions. It creates its own downfall.”
