American Gulags - The US Still Operates Concentration Camps
Joe Biden and his congressional majority continue to illegally detain, torture, and kill members of an ethnic minority at our Southern border
I’ve gotten pushback online recently from liberals offended at my describing the ethnic concentration camps for Latin people that the United States government currently operates as concentration camps. Partisan ideology is a real phenomenon, and many Democratic voters are all too happy to act as though things are any better under President Joe Biden for the victims of our concentration camps than they were under President Donald Trump.
After all, the new Presidential administration re-named the camps. Their liberal lackeys like Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and other members of the Latino mis-leadership class have helped out insisting, however vaguely and without any meaningful specificity, that our “detention centers” are better now than they were under Trump, as though cleaning the drapes and fluffing pillows anew could make more acceptable the underlying condition of political imprisonment and loss of freedom for a mass of people from one ethnic minority.
So, a lot of liberals find it inconvenient when we point out that the concentration camps continue under Democratic leadership. There isn’t a long argument needed to be made in defense of accurately describing the reality on the ground.
One need only look at common and/or scholarly definitions of the term “concentration camp” and open one’s eyes to readily available reporting to understand that what Joe Biden and the United States continue to operate at our border are for-profit concentration camps of Latin people. Concentration camps are simply places where a large amount of people, often refugees or political prisoners, or members of racial, ethnic, or religious minority groups are detained by armed guards. At present, our border camps are filled almost exclusively with people from one ethnic minority group - Latin people - and they are certainly being held there against their will by armed guards.
Many of these Latin people are asylum-seekers who have had and continue to have their right to apply for asylum in the United States denied by our government in violation of our own and international laws. Many of these illegally interned asylum-seekers are also illegally separated from their families and are being used for slave labor.
The Latin women are being sterilized against their will, and men, women, and children alike have been denied necessary healthcare, including covid-19 vaccinations, even as they’re illegally housed in cramped conditions meant to have the virus ravage the interned populations. These Latin people continue to die in government custody under these conditions as Democrats and Republicans join together to increase the funding for the agencies carrying out the atrocities.
These members of an ethnic minority, many seeking refuge from illegal U.S. military interventions in their home nations, are being illegally denied asylum application proceedings, separated from their families, locked in cages under guard supervision, being sterilized by force, and forced into slave labor. These are concentration camps by any honest definition of the term.
The establishment wants us to deny this reality. The Biden administration wants us to use their Orwellian re-naming of the concentration camps - “reception centers,” even as it signs new contracts with private corporations that use these prisoners as slave labor. They want us to ignore that forced labor just as they want us to ignore the way we use Black, Brown, and poor prisoners in our regular prisons for slave labor as well.
Don’t call them concentration camps! Don’t call them gulags!
Alas, crimes are crimes regardless of who commits them. Words have meaning for us just as they do for whatever foreign boogeyman they want us to focus our fear and ire on instead of our own government and corporate rulers.
The United States government, led by the Democratic Party, operates for-profit concentration camps filled with Latin victims of our empire where families are separated, women are sterilized, and children continue to die in custody while their parents are forced into slave labor. Don’t you dare look away, and don’t you dare call it anything other than what it is.
